Staying healthy during the winter

Washing hands can go a long way towards preventing illness

With Winter Quarter/Spring Semester beginning, make sure you are taking steps to prevent illness. Some simple steps can do a great deal:

Wash your hands often. Effective handwashing means 20 seconds of vigorous rubbing with plain soap and water.

Exercise and go outdoors. Exercising can help boost your immune system, and getting a little sunlight here and there can help stave off depression.

Eat healthy. Attack those holiday pounds with a healthy dose of vegetables and proteins. Eating right not only helps you stay in shape, it can affect your mood and sleep cycles as well!

Reduce stress. With the holidays over, and school back in session, it can be easy to fall into old habits. Take some tips from the Mayo Clinic: be realistic, plan ahead, and seek support.
