The Allied Powers and the Holocaust: Upcoming Conference

Organized by UCD Davis professor emeritus of Political Science Alexander Groth, and University of Santa Clara Law School professor Tony Tanke, this four-day conference , which will run from March 16 to March 19, 2015, at the Menachem Begin Center in Jerusalem, features presentations by a number of the best-known holocaust scholars.

Senate Intelligence Committee Releases Report on Torture and the CIA

The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has released the executive summary of its “Study of the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program.” The Senate release includes a 6-page foreword by committee chair Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), a 19-page list of 20 specific Findings and Conclusions, and a 499-page Executive Summary which details the development of the torture program after 9/11.

Europa World Plus Online – New Resource!

The Library has recently added a subscription to a key reference database – Europa World Plus.  Europa World Plus is the online version of the Europa World Year Book and the nine-volume Europa Regional Surveys of the World series.  First published in 1926, the year book is renowned as one of the world’s leading reference works, covering political and economic information in more than 250 countries and territories.

In addition to summary information about countries, for each country Europa includes basiClick here for a clickable world mapc country statistics and profile, and directories of government and politics, society and media and business and commerce.  Recent political events and recent election are featured on the home page.
