The UC Davis Libraries recently acquired Journal Citation Reports (JCR) online.
JCR is used for finding out the impact factor of a journal and for comparing journals to one another within a field using citation data. Impact factor is based on the number of times papers in a journal are cited by other papers. Using JCR can help you find the:
- Most frequently cited journals in a field
- Highest impact journals in a field
- Largest journals in a field
JCR comes in a social science and science edition, and can be browsed by subject within these broad categories. The latest year available online is 2007.
Connect to JCR here, or through the PSE Library database list. (Note: you must be on campus or logged in through the VPN for this to work).
For more help using JCR, or information about impact factors, contact a PSE librarian.
