Springer: Access Issues

December 4th, 2012 by Cory Craig

Access issues are being reported for Springer online content (journals, books, protocols) since they moved to a new platform on 11/26/12. Springer customer service is aware of the issues and is working on correcting them.

If you experience problems, click here to access the old SpringerLink site

Or follow these instructions to get to the old SpringerLink site:
1), click through to the online content on the new platform; the URLs for the new platform all begin with ‘link.springer.com’.
2) Click the “Access old SpringerLink” link in the gray banner on the right side of the screen. See image below.

Request for input on Springer, Sage, and ACS journals

October 11th, 2010 by Karen Andrews

UC Libraries continue to review systemwide electronic resource packages with the goal of reducing expenditures to cope with price increases, and to allow us to reallocate funds to support emerging areas of research and instruction. The current publisher packages up for review are journal titles for Springer, Sage, and the American Chemical Society.

We are seeking feedback from UCD faculty, research staff, and grad students to help identify which titles to cancel or to add. Your comments will be forwarded to librarians.

To review the title list and submit comments, go to:

Springer E-books are here!

May 6th, 2009 by Karen Andrews

The PSE Library has acquired online access to all Springer eBooks published from 2005-2009 as part of a UC Libraries eBook trial. springerlink-logo

We will have perpetual access to these books. The experiment will run throughout the 2009 calendar year. During this time, we plan not to purchase any Springer books in print that are available online as part of the eBook package. We will be gathering your feedback on every aspect of the eBook trial to help us plan future acquisitions.

Online books from Springer are linked in the Harvest and Melvyl catalogs. You may also see what we have and search Springer book content by going directly to:

http://springerlink.com/

You can search this site for both book and journal content published by Springer, or limit your results to only books. Books are available as pdf downloads by chapter.

NOTE: If you want to access these books when off-campus, remember to authenticate first via the VPN. Once you’ve logged in, to go directly to SpringerLink, paste the SpringerLink URL into the empty box in the top right corner of the VPN menu screen.
